Mission

The Electronic Systems Engineering (ESE) Department is dedicated to providing high quality design, implementation, maintenance and project management support for hardware systems for HEP and Astrophysics experimentalists and phenomenologists.

Hardware systems include board and system level hardware and firmware, and infrastructure electronics.

PREP (Physics Research Equipment Pool)

The Physics Research Equipment Pool (PREP) provides electronic instrumentation for high energy physics research experiments according to agreements (MOU's -- memoranda of understandings) between approved experiment collaborations and the Fermilab Computing Division. Equipment can be borrowed for onsite use or offsite loans and collaborative agreements. The ESE Department provides equipment management and ESE technicians perform PREP Repair.

Projects and Activities

The Electronic Systems Engineering (ESE) Department within the Computing Division is involved in many major projects for the Laboratory and beyond. It provides many core services and support functions directly. These responsibilities include:

• Current Projects Including: Running experiments Support, CDF, D0 and NOvA DAQ and

  CAPTAN – Gigabit Ethernet Data Acquisition System
